A hot time in the old town tonight
There was a fantastic symbiotic relationship between Mexico City and Havana in the 40s and 50s.
Mexico City was a boom town with all the advantages (fresh air, moderate traffic) that Los Angeles enjoyed in those days.
It also had a huge movie industry that cranked out films for the Latin American market.
Boatloads of Cuba’s greatest musicians of the time moved to Mexico to take advantage of the opportunities and we get films like this.
I’m sure you heard the “Rhapsody in Blue” reference.
