Swingin’ The Blues
Harlem Blues & Jazz Band
A swinging stomp from some great veterans
The Harlem Blues and Jazz Band was founded in 1973 by Al Vollmer and trombonist Clyde Bernhardt.
Through the next few decades, that group gave a large assortment of top jazz veterans of the 1920s and ’30s an opportunity to play and be rediscovered.
This rousing version of Eddie Durham’s “Swingin’ The Blues,” probably from 1980, has solos from the composer on trombone, altoist George James, and pianist Ram Ramirez.
