This recording was made in New York City in 1937 featuring Ed Lewis, Buck Clayton, and Bobby Moore (trumpets), Benny Morton and Dan Minor (trombones), Earle Warren (clarinet & alto saxophone), Herschel Evans and Lester Young (clarinet & tenor saxophone) Count Basie (piano & leader), Freddie Green (guitar), Eddie Durham (electric guitar), Jack Washington (baritone saxophone), Walter Page (bass), and Joe Jones (drums).

*”Topsy” was composed by Eddie Durham, and Edgar Battle.

Eddie Durham is credited for creating the world’s first electric guitar solo with a Gibson ES-150 guitar in 1938.
