In this 1934 film short Don Redman and his Orchestra perform four numbers featuring the singing of Harlan Lattimore on “Ill Wind” and vocals of tap dance team ‘Red and Struggie’ on Nagasaki.

After spending much of the 1920s with the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra and as musical director for the Detroit based “McKinney’s Cotton Pickers” saxophonist and bandleader Don Redman formed his own band in 1931. Known for his humorous vocal style his band recorded what are considered to be the most complex pre-swing era arrangements of popular tunes.
