This record was made in Chicago, on January 4, 1944 with Charles Melvin ‘Cootie’ Williams, trumpet; Eddie ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson, alto sax; Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, tenor sax; Earl Rudolph ‘Bud’ Powell, piano; Norman Keenan, bass; and Sylvester ‘Vess’ Payne, drums.

*It was the first single from, the first session of Cootie Williams’ newly formed Sextette, Bud Powell’s premiere on record.
