Lester Young

This rare Lester Young performance of “Mean To Me” first aired on, the television show, “Art Ford’s Jazz Party” on September 25, 1958.

After leaving the Count Basie Orchestra tenor saxophonist Lester Young worked with small groups and accompanied Billie Holiday. In 1946 he joined Norman Granz’s Jazz at the Philharmonic with which he performed regularly until the late 1950s.
